Two of the Reds weak points is well known to be their goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and left-back Alberto Moreno.
According to German newspaper Bild, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has identified two particular targets from the Bundesliga. The paper reports that Klopp is scouting Cologne duo, Timo Horn and Jonas Hector.
Horn has finally commented on the link.
“The fact is that there is still no concrete offer from Liverpool or any other clubs,” he said.
“My heart stays in Cologne, for now I stand in goal for Cologne next season.
“But I have always said that I will sit down to address it when an offer from a top club comes.”
Goalkeeper Horn is believed to have a release clause of around £7 million. Belgian keeper Mignolet has improved since Klopp tookover, in his distribution and kicking. However he’s still made costly errors that resulted in Liverpool giving up comfortable leads. With Klopp giving him a new contract in the season, it means that Mignolet could be cemented as a second choice next season, or that the German believes he will gradually improve and grow into being the best he has.
Moreno has also improved under Klopp, but doesn’t have sufficient backup in his position. It was his error that led to Villarreal’s counter-attack in the semi-final first leg loss against Villarreal. Moreno’s also given away some ridiculous penalties and Klopp should be looking for a better option on the left of his defence.
