NPFL: Sunshine ready to battle MFM in Akure

The match day 24 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will see Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure and Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos go head to head on Sunday at the Akure Township Stadium.

NPFL followers in the city of Akure will have a taste of scintillating football tomorrow when the Owena Waves and the Olukoya Boys  trade tackles.

Smarting from their 1-0 first home defeat of the season to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan in game week 23, the Lagos-based side is expected to go all out for a decent result when they face Sunshine Stars FC who have been consistent at  home in recent times.

Sunshine Stars FC didn’t didn’t play any match in the league last weekend due to their hosts, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba continental engagement.

This meeting between these two sides will be the second in the top league. MFM FC won the first leg of this same fixture in match day 4 of the ongoing NPFL season with a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Newman Musa and teenage striker, Stephen Odey while Sikiru Kamal scored the visitors only goal of the match.

The Akure-based team won their last home match with a slim 1-0 win over Lobi Stars Football Club of Markurdi in match day 22. They will be looking for a way to continue their good run of form in the apex league as they welcome MFM FC that’s capable of springing surprises.

Solomon Ogbeide tutored side currently occupy the 4th position in the 20-team table with 32 points from 22 matches. They have conceded 21 goals and managed to score 28.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men on the other hand sits in the 10th spot with two points behind the host.

The homers should be wary of the visitors fire power in the likes of tricky left-winger, Sikiru Olatunbosun, Ifeanyi Abara, Austine Ogunye ,Monday Shinshinma and John Okoye.

Ilechukwu will be relying on the team captain, Kenedinum Nelson Chuks and ex-junior international midfielder, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi  to lead other trusted players in the middle of the park and the entire team  to a glorious outing on Sunday.
