Ulinzi Stars head coach Robert Matano has been handed a new one – year deal to extend his stay at the Nakuru based club.
The coach joined Ulinzi Stars in April 2014 on an 18 – month contract and upon the expiry at the end of the 2015 season, the club had a review of his performance and felt it right to hand him an extension.
While confirming the extension, the club’s Officer in Charge Joe Birgen stated that the target for the 2016 season will be to win the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title and he stated that the coach is well aware of the expectations.
“We had a review of his performance since he joined the team in April and we thought he has done well enough to be handed a new deal. He has thus been given a one year extension and he knows our ambition in 2016 is to win the KPL title,” he said.
Matano has previously coached Sofapaka, AFC Leopards and Tusker before joining Ulinzi Stars.
He has won the league title with Sofapaka and Tusker and has also won the Top 8 Cup with the Brewers.
