Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake are in negotiations with Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko.
The former Heart of Lions centre-back who has 10 Black Stars caps, is still hoping to impress while in training in the United States.
He’s recently left Turkish club Eskisehirspor and performing for Salt Lake in trial games so far.
“That is a positive for my intensions with the player but the deal is not done,” club official Craig Waibel told the Tribune.
“But we’re in conversation with him and as of this moment, he’s a trialist but the club is still pursuing him. Jerry is a cerebral centre-back who also possesses impressive speed.
“We’re very fortunate to have brought Jerry in and we’re quite pleased because again, this is a high quality player with options that came into our environment and realised that this [trial] is something he wanted to be part of.”
The 27-year-old was once nominated for the Defender of the Season in the Ghana Premier League in 2008, before moving to Turkish side Orduspor for three seasons.
