Gor beats Bandari to Keli signature

Kenyan premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Kenyan international Jacob Keli beating Bandari FC who were said to be leading in the run up for the diminutive striker’s signature.

Bandari had earlier in the day confirmed the club was in advanced talks with the striker but Gor Mahia hijacked the deal and swooped for the striker late in the evening, tying him to a one year deal.

The striker spent the last six months of the 2015 season in Zambia with Nkana FC and upon securing the move to Gor Mahia, he declared the ambition is to help the team retain the KPL crown but still aim at improving as a player.

“I am happy to join Gor Mahia; it is a good deal for me and I am looking to settle in as fast as possible. I want to help the team retain the league title as well as doing well in the other competitions but at the same time improve myself as a player,” he said after signing.

The striker has previously played for KCB, Sofapaka, Mathare United and AFC Leopards.

In 2013 he was named the KPL Player of the Year after managing 18 goals to finish as top scorer in the league.
