Midfielder Jabulani Shongwe is enthusiastic about Bidvest Wits campaign in the Caf Confederations Cup, which is a breath of fresh air when you consider how South African PSL clubs neglect the continental competition.

SA clubs are always unhappy with conditions and travel management in Caf, but Wits are inspired by Orlando Pirates run in the last three years, where they reached two finals.

The Students now produced a 9-0 aggregate win over Lightstars in the preliminary stage.

“First and foremost we want to go as far as we can in this tournament,” Shongwe told

“We want to represent the country very well. You know every step and every game we play is different.”

“We are playing teams which we don’t even know about and they also don’t know us but it’s good

“We are gaining valuable experience from these games which will help us even when we play here at home.

”We are ready to take on Africa and conquer it,” Shongwe concluded.
