Belgian coach for Leopards

AFC Leopards13 – time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions AFC Leopards are set to hire a new coach, just two matches into the new season.

Belgian Ivan Jacky Minnaert is reported to be in the country for talks ahead of sealing a deal with the club, having handed his resignation at Rwandan side Rayon Sport on Wednesday 24 February.

The AFC Leopards chairman Mathews Opwora confirmed the development while stating that current coach Jan Koops will be elevated to another post at the club.

“I can confirm we are getting a new coach but we are yet to finalise matters. The coach from Rwanda is the most likely to take charge and we know he is a good coach but we first of all have to meet as a committee and agree on a few things.

“We want to evaluate a number of matters before we can make the final decision.

“Koops has done well and he has a good history with the team so he can’t be discarded. He will be elevated to a different position in the team,” he added.
