Ahmed Musa is no longer Leicester City’s record signing after the Foxes agreed a £29.7m deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani.
The Premier League champions had broken their transfer record when they shelled out £16m on Nigeria’s Musa from Russian club CSKA Moscow, but have now broken their record again, this time on Algeria striker Slimani.
Leicester had seen an initial bid of £20m for the 28-year old Slimani rejected, and have now upped their bid as they look to beat the transfer deadline.
The deal is expected to be concluded well in time to beat the 11pm transfer deadline today.
