Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that new Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not perform in the premier league which is considered by many as the best league in the world.
The Frenchman questioned the timing of the Swedish icon’s arrival at Old Trafford majorly because of his age.
Wenger wondered if the 34-year-old could still make an impact like he has done in the past with clubs like Paris Saint German, AC Milan, Inter Minlan, Juventus, and Ajax but admitted that Ibrahimovic is a top player.
“Honestly I don’t know [how he will get on],” Wenger told reporters. “Going for him is his class, his talent, his desire to do well. What goes against him is that he is not the youngest player anymore, so you are questioned about that in every game.
“From what I saw of him last year at Paris Saint-Germain, it was his most complete season as an individual player and as a team player. He became a really great team player last season.
“On the mental aspect he will bring something to Man United as well. He is a winner, he has charisma and he will give them a strength as well as his individual quality.”
Wenger failed to sign Ibrahimovic during his teenage years as the Sweden star felt the loan offer was too embracing and opted for Ajax from where he has become a global phenomenon.
Ibrahimovic will be part of the Manchester United in Sunday afternoon’s Community Shield meeting against Leicester City.
