Nigerian forward Ichi Onuodi Chibueze had the perfect start to life in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) scoring a goal that would well pass as the goal of the season so far as he helped his Thika United team to a 2 – 0 win over Mathare United.
Chibueze, signed in the mid season transfer window, had been locked out for the opening three matches of the second leg but after getting cleared on Thursday, was handed a start just two days later and he didn’t disappoint, opening the scoring for his new team on his debut in the 78th minute.
Eugene Mukangula netted the second goal for his team to ensure they pick three points from the title contending Mathare United.
In the other matches played on the day, Ugandan forward Allan Kateregga scored a second minute goal that was enough to see AFC Leopards bag a 1 – 0 win over the visiting Sony Sugar at the Nyayo National Stadium.
In Kisumu County, Western Stima played to their second successive barren draw agfter being held at home by Posta Rangers while in Awasi, Charles Momanyi scored the lone goal as Kakamega Homeboyz beat hosts Chemelil Sugar at the Chemelil Sports Complex.
