Wanyama recovers in time for Tanzania game

The Kenya national team head coach Stanley Okumbi has released his squad that will be taking on Tanzania in the international friendly match scheduled for Sunday 29 May at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani and skipper Victor Wanyama is in.

The Kenyan player, who had previously been termed a doubt for the match, joined his mates in the Saturday training and the Southampton FC midfielder will be leading the team out in the 4pm kickoff.

With Victor in, there will be no place in the team for Spain based Ismail Gonzalez with Anthony Akumu and Tusker FC’s Humphrey Mieno set to complement Wanyama in midfield.

Ali Abondo, who recently made the move to South African top flight side Ajax Cape Town, is on the bench while there is no place in the team for Paul Were as the two top scorers in the Kenyan Premier League John Makwatta and Wycliffe Ochomo are named among the reserves.

Starting XI: Boniface Oluoch (GK), Joakins Atudo, David Owino, Eugene Asike, Aboud Omar, Anthony Akumu, Victor Wanyama, Ayub Timbe, Humphrey Mieno, Eric Johanna, Jesse Were.

Subs: David Okello (GK), Eric Ouma, Musa Mohamed, Victor Abondo, Wycliffe Ochomo, John Makwatta, Cliff Miheso.
