Wikki ban fan for slapping TA Maikaba

Wikki Tourist have confirmed the immediate suspension of one of its supporter identified as Labaran Mohammed for slapping Technical Adviser Abdul Maikaba, according to the club’s administrative secretary Hammed Tijani Sulaiman.

The incident occurred inside the Bauchi township stadium after the Tourist defeated Ifeanyiubah 2-1 in a Nigeria premier league match played on Wednesday to help boost their continental chances but while the rest of the fans celebrated Mohammed walked towards the team manager and landed him a slap.

The reason for his action was unclear but he got the piece of his own act when some fans rushed towards him and pummeled him recklessly. He was rescued before the situation turned uglier.

Speaking in a telephone chat with SportingLife, Sulaiman confirmed the incident, he said: ‘Wikki Tourist supporter Labaran Mohammed has been suspended indefinitely for slapping the club’s Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba after their league game against Ifeayinubah FC on Wednesday.

‘Mohammed action is unacceptable and against the club’s ethics. He has been arrested and will be handed over to police.’

He continued: ‘Mohammed was beaten up by other supporters before he was rescued. Suleiman said: We are not happy for his unguided action.

‘He has been suspended and we will hand him over to the police. He will not be allowed to watch any of our matches again. This is not part of our culture and ethics of the club. We don’t condone such behaviours. So on behalf of other fans we say sorry to coach.’

With four matches left to the end of the league, Wikki are currently placed second with 57 points, five points behind leaders Enyimba.
