New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is set to make Leicester City defensive midfielder N’Golo Kanté his second signing this summer as Super Eagles Captain Mikel Obi nears Stamford Bridge exit.
The Blues are currently negotiating a £29m move for the French international after he rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal from the Claudio Raneiri led Premier League Champions to clear the coast for the switch to West London.
Conte had preferred Radja Nainggolan and Arturo Vidal but both players decided to stay with Roma and Bayern Munich respectively which triggered the choice for Kanté who made 175 tackles and 156 interceptions more than any other player in the premier league last season.
Mikel was a super regular for Chelsea in the second half of last season under interim manager Guus Hiddink but with the new Chelsea boss, Conte preferring a tough tackling midfielder the days of the Nigerian at Stamford Bridge seems numbered.
Already, Besiktas are showing serious interest to land the former Lyn Oslo star who has spent almost decade with Chelsea and reports in some section of the Turkish media claims that the Nigerian is open to a move to Turkey provided he is guaranteed regular playing time.
