Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona has declared that there is nothing to be scared of after Nigeria was drawn alongside Cameroon, Zambia, and Algeria in Group B of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers tagged the ‘Group of Death.’
Algeria is currently ranked the best team in Africa and have the best player in the Premier League for last season, Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez in their Arsenal. Cameroon have always been a hard nut to crack for the Eagles and it’s still fresh in the hearts of Nigerians how they won the 2000 African Nations Cup in front of Lagos fans while Zambia have built a young and dynamic team in recent times.
However, the 25-year-old Çaykur Rizespor of Turkey star is not moved by the pedigree of Nigeria’s group opponents as he is confident in the ability of the Eagles to make it through to Russia 2018.
‘With God on our side, we have nothing to be scared off,’ Oboabona said.
Oboabona was part of the team that helped Nigeria reach the last 16 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil but he and his teammates will have to be at their best to reach the Mundial in 2018.
