Nakumatt FC head coach Giovanni Troanni has now set his focus on lifting the GOtv Shield after seeing off favorites Gor Mahia in the semi final clash staged at Kasarani on Wednesday 9 December.
Troanni led his team to a 4 – 2 win on post match penalties after a 1 – 1 draw in regular time, a win he says was well deserved though he admits playing Gor Mahia was not easy and lauded his boys for holding their own against the 15 – time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions.
“Gor Mahia were not easy opponents but we gave our best and I am glad that we got the win against the best team in the country. Frank (Nuttal) is my good friend but I told him before the game that he will lose. I think the way we played, we deserved to win and now our focus is on the trophy,” he said.
Nakumatt will take on Bandari in the final slated for Sunday 13 December at Kasarani. Bandari booked a final slot with a win over Muhoroni Youth.
A win in the final comes with a Kshs 2 million reward and a place in the CAF Confederations Cup.
