La Liga side Valencia are reportedly working towards getting Jose Mourinho despite the Portuguese gaffer also being wanted by English Premier League giants, Manchester United.
Garry Neville was officially sacked on Wednesday by Valencia after only four months and his No2 Pako Ayestaran has stepped in as his interim replacement.
However, a report in UK tabloid SunSport suggest that serious discussions have been ongoing for more than a month about Mourinho becoming the next man in charge at the Mestalla.
It is an open secret that Mourinho prefers a move to Old Trafford, should they sack Louis van Gaal, but he is yet to receive a written offer.
United have held a number of meetings with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes and outlined possible terms which could reach £20m a year with bonuses but nothing firm is on the table yet.
On the other hand, Mendes who is one of Valencia owner Peter Lim’s closest football advisors could help fast track on a deal many believe.
As far back as December, Valencia had wanted Mourinho but serious talks only took place in February when Jose and his agent were guests of Lim in his native Singapore The Sun claims.
The report says that the billionaire is prepared to pay Mourinho around £15m-a-year with a £100m transfer kitty.
