Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Sony Sugar has confirmed re – signing midfielder Fredrick Uche Onyango from Tusker FC where he spent the last three season.
Uche, as the defensive midfielder is popularly known, left the Millers for Nairobi at the start of the 2012 season and at the end of that year helped Tusker with their tenth KPL title but his stay at Ruaraka was blighted with injury thereafter.
He was also a member of the Tusker side that won back to back KPL Top 8 titles in 2013 and 2014 under coaches Robert Matano and Francis Kimanzi but at the expiry of his deal in 2015, Tusker opted to release him and Sony swooped.
“We have signed Uche for the 2016 season and we are pleased with the deal given we know him well and he is a vastly experienced midfielder. We believe we will gain a lot from this move,” the Sony Sugar Team Manager Zack Irungu said.
His sentiments were echoed by the club chairman Paul Orato who feels the move will boost the team’s chances of winning silverware in the coming season.
