Former Brazilian international Jose Marcelo Ferreira, also known as Ze Maria will be taking over as the new Gor Mahia coach, the club has confirmed.
The coach, as confirmed by the Gor Mahia management will be landing in Kenya on Friday afternoon, in time to take up the job, as a replacement for Scottish coach Frank Nuttall who left the team at the start of the week.
Nuttall left for Egypt to settle as Zamalek assistant coach where he will serve under his countryman Alex McLeish.
Gor Mahia’s Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala confirmed that indeed the coach will be landing in Kenya at 1.30pm on Friday and will decide on whether or not to be on the bench when the team takes on Nairobi City Stars a day later.
“We had to sieve through a big pool of coaches who had applied for the job and we felt Ferreira holds the biggest promise and we settled on him.
“He will be landing on Friday at 1.30pm and it will be upon him to decide whether or not he sits on the bench in the match against City Stars,” he said.
The coach is a UEFA Pro License holder and played for Inter Milan in his heyday.
