Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia continued with plans for the 2016 season with advanced talks with Kenyan international midfielder Francis Kahata and report that a deal is in the offing.
As per a post on the Gor Mahia official website, the midfielder and the club have agreed in principle that he will be joining the team and only a few details concerning the deal remain.
Kahata, formerly with Thika United, left for Albanian club FK Tirana early in 2014 but his stay in the league was troubled, lasting just until August of the same year and has been without a club since.
The Gor Mahia Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala says the deal is headed to completion to see the midfielder, who has been with Gor Mahia in the off season, joining the team.
“We are in the process of completing the deal but we had agreed on principle with Kahata,” Ngala is quoted on the site as saying.
Gor Mahia will in 2016 be featuring in the CAF Champions League, CECAFA Kagame Cup, Premier League, GOtv Shield as well as the KPL Top 8 Cup and having an experienced player like Kahata within the club’s ranks will be a massive boost.
