Posta Rangers has been reinstated to the GOtv Shield competition after arguing a successful appeal to the ruling by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to throw out the team apparently over using an ineligible player in the first round.
The team was thrown out for fielding newly signed John Nairuka in the game against Timsales FC and he went on to score but Rangers argued that they followed the right procedure in the acquisition of the player.
Independent Disciplinary and Appeals Committee (IDAC) directed the federation to employ a more lenient way in dealing with the issue, suggesting a fine.
The FKF CEO Robert Muthomi has acted on the directive by IDAC, re-listing the team in the fixtures and slapping them with a Kshs 100,000 fine.
“I have received and acted on IDAC’s directive by reinstating Posta Rangers to the GOTV Shield tournament.
“I have, also, in accordance with the IDAC ruling fined Posta Rangers Ksh 100,000 for their actions,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi in a statement.
The team will now take on Ushuru FC on Saturday 17 September at the Nyayo National Stadium in the second round clash of the tournament.
