Nigerian midfield star, John Ogu is over the moon having registered  a goal-scoring as well as a winning debut for his Israeli side, Hapoel Beer Sheva in the UEFA Champions League qualifying series on Tuesday night.

Ogu, who before now has played in the Europa Cup with Academica de Coimbra of Portugal helped his side back into the game after they found themselves on the back foot after Josip Ivancic stunned the home fans with his 22nd minute strike.

The equalizer from Ogu came two minutes before the break to tie the game at 1-1 and the Nigerian star was on twitter to voice his excitement with the bright display in the opening game of the season.

“Thank God for d victory n my goal even as am nt looking sharp yet. Working hard to be fit. Great way to start d season,” Ogu wrote

Seven minutes into the 2nd half, Beer Sheva captain, Elivan Barda, made it 2-1 from the spot but the hosts were pegged back by Josip Brezovec’s goal just after the hour mark.

The Israeli champions dug deep and were able to get the winner in the 90th minute of the game through another spot kick this time converted by Maharan Radi to give Beer Sheva a 3-2 home win.

Having only registered a slim win and conceded two away goals, Hapoel Beer Sheva will have a tough task ahead in the second leg when they travel to Moldova to face FC Sheriff.
