MFM FC began the encounter with the first kick of the ball. The first 10 minutes of the game saw both sides exchanging ball possession but the Lagos-based team were more dominant as they forced Katsina United to a defensive play.

Katsina United FC won a free kick in the 20th minute of the encounter at the edge of MFM FC box but goal keeper, Abayomi Folarin pulled a sublime diving save to deny them their scoring chance.

The Lagos-based team regained possession with Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Monsuru Bashiru stringing passes in the middle of the park but they failed to make any meaningful impact.

Faisal Sabi and John Chukwuka wasted what could have been a goal for Katsina United FC in the 29th minute but MFM FC goalkeeper, Abayomi made another save.

MFM FC Striker, Isah Akor was brought down in the opponents box in the 33rd minute when he was about to lob the ball over Katsina United goalkeeper, Yinka Suliamon but the centre referee, Ibrahim Ishiaku signaled for a goal-kick.

MFM FC were lucky not to have conceded a second goal in the 40th minute off a long range shot by Usule Martins but thanks to goalkeeper, Abayomi who denied the boys from Katsina after yet another brilliant save. The first 45 minutes ended goalless.

The second half was keenly contested with Katsina United FC taking the lead in the 54th minute via a goal mouth scramble with Ibrahim Suleiman scoring what would turn out to be the only goal of the match.

MFM FC Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu substituted Akor for Irumekhai Paul in the 60th minute in order to stabilise the midfield. The defensive midfielder showed quality in the middle of the park with fine defensive play.

MFM FC made two quick changes in the 67th minute as strikers, Austine Ogunye and Abara Henry came in to replace Sikiru Olatunbosun and Stephen Odey.

Ogunye troubled Katsina United FC defenders with his dribbling runs as MFM FC mounted pressure on their opponents who stood tall and defended very well.

The game ended 1-0 in favor of Katsina United FC.

Meanwhile, MFM FC will face Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in match day 23 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday at the Agege Township Stadium.
