Former Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper Ernest Sowah has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko.

The 27-year-old was a free agent after leaving Congolese club CS Don Bosco two months ago. There was a dispute due to unpaid salary. Sowah was also linked to Medeama SC and Ajax Cape Town in the South African PSL.

It was a sensible move to Ghana, because Ajax already have Anssi Jaakkola who’s doing well as their number one in Cape town.

“I’m elated to join Kotoko,” Sowah told Goal.com

“There were lots of clubs but I believe here will be the best place for my career looking at everything around that’s why I signed three years.

“I’m here to help the club achieve their aims and objectives for next season and the seasons after. I’m prepared to work extra hard for a starting place and also to win laurels so that the fans will be happy,” he said.

The keeper hopes a regular place for Kotoko will earn him a recall to the Ghana national team.

“I’m hoping that my performance with Kotoko will open doors for me to the Black Stars. I’ve been there before but lots of things didn’t favour me. I know Avram Grant will definitely call me back in the near future to prove my worth.”

He last played for Ghana at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
