Malawi coach Ernest Mtawali was graceful in defeat following his team’s 0 – 2 loss to Uganda in the quarter final of the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge on Monday 30 November.
Mtawali brought Malawi as a guest team to the tournament and after the loss, he admitted Uganda were the better side, stating that his team was unfortunate to concede early.
The goals, he says, unsettled his charges but from the tournament, he takes positives in the sense that he brought a young squad that he says has gained a lot of experience.
“We were unfortunate to concede earlier in the game and they added a second when we had not settled. Uganda deserved today’s win because they played well for the better part of the game.
“The goals unsettled my tactics because Uganda were going for every ball and couldn’t let us settle. I had a young squad in this tournament and it has been a massive experience for them. I would like to thank CECAFA for inviting us over in this year’s showpiece,” he said.
