Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Champions, Enyimba international have moved to second on the log after their 2-1 win against Warri Wolves in one of their reschedule matches.
The league is currently on break after the final game of the first stanza were concluded but the CAF Champions League representatives have three outstanding games left.
One of the games was against Warri Wolves and they showed no signs of complacency despite having played more games than any other team in the league as Christian Pyabara scored what could go down as the fastest goal of the season so far as he netted in 55seconds to send Aba fans singing in loud voices so early into the game.
However, the visitors showed strong character as they replied the goal before the end of the first half when Shedrack Oghu kept his cool to score past Theophilus Afelokhai after an error by ThankGod Ike allowed him in on goal.
It made the second half a battle as both sides contested for the winner but it was Enyimba that got the all important goal. With less than 20minutes to the end of the pulsating encounter Andrew Abalogu curled home a rebound after Rhiogbere in goal for Warri Wolves spilled Chima Akas’ free kick to make it 2-1.
Kelly Kester suffered a head injury in the closing stages of the game and was replaced by Ifeanyi Anaemena but there was no late drama as Enyimba held on to win 2-1 at Aba.
The Aba Elephants have now gone nine games unbeaten in the league and showing great intentions to retain their title.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Enyimba international Football Club were surprised by the state government with a bus donation for their travels which delighted the management and they thanked the government for showing support to the team.
