Former team-mates, Premier League legends and international goalkeepers have paid tribute to record breaker Petr Cech who broke the Premier League clean-sheet record with his 170th shut-out in Monday’s win over Bournemouth.

Here are some of the quotes from Premier League legends and international goalkeepers as published on the Arsenal official website:

“Congratulations, Petr, on breaking the Premier League clean-sheet record. I have to say that, of all the goalkeepers that I’ve played against, you have been the most stubborn. Your record proves that you should be the holder of this record and I’m sure that will be extended for a long, long time yet. I can’t think of a better goalkeeper to be in that position. Well done.” Former clean-sheet record holder David James

“Congratulations to my friend Petr Cech. It’s a big achievement and I think Arsenal fans are really happy to have you at the club.” Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba

“I played against you so many times. I think you have to go down in history, for me, as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, not just in the Premier League. You’re just outstanding, were outstanding and still are outstanding. The impact that you have on the back four and your team is just amazing and it’s been a pleasure, but not all of the time, to play against you! It’s nice to see you play for the Arsenal and hopefully you can help us finally bring the title back to the right part of London.” Legendary Arsenal forward Thierry Henry

“A big congratulations to my good friend Petr Cech who is breaking the all-time Premier League clean-sheet record. I can speak highly enough of Pete, he’s a fantastic man who is a very good friend and a fantastic professional. Not only that, I think he’s been in the top few goalkeepers for a long time, maybe even the last 15 years. It was a pleasure to play with him and a huge congratulations to him on a fantastic achievement.” Former Chelsea and current New York City midfielder Frank Lampard

“Petr, I just wanted to congratulate you on your record. I can promise that I won’t be able to break it – I’m a bit too old for that and I don’t think I’ll play so many years in the Premier League! All I can say is hats off for breaking this record and I would like to give you one tip: Extend it, play for as long as you can. I know you’re a bit older now but I hope for you that your body allows you to have many more years in the Premier League and at Arsenal.” Germany and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer

“Petr, what a fantastic performer you are. You completely deserve it. You’re a top guy, a great goalkeeper, collected a lot of silverware with Chelsea, and we had some heroic battles between each other – I have to mention Moscow 2008. I wish you a lot of success at Arsenal and hopefully you can win a trophy and bring that with you to north London because you’ve won so much already in west London. Take care and all the best.” Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar

“Congratulations on breaking the record. You are one of the best goalkeepers in the history of the Premier League.” Spain and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea
