NPFL side Ikorodu United Football Club have relieved Edema Benson of his responsibility as the Lagos based outfit’s head coach, fcnaija.com can confirm.
The NPFL outfit who gained consecutive promotions from the Nigeria Nationwide League and Nigeria National League to play in the top flight have only managed to one win in their opening five league games.
United were held to a 1-1 draw by Abia Warriors FC in their first ever Nigerian Professional Football league fixture in the history of the club on Matchday 1 on home soil by Abia Warriors.
After missing in action in the NPFL match day two fixtures due to Akwa United’s involvement in the continent, Benson led his side to their first win of the season with a 1-0 slim victory over Lobi Stars at home before going down to Enyimba on match day three in Port Harcourt.
Last Sunday’s goalless draw at home against fellow new comers and city rivals Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM FC) who are placed third on the NPFL log may have sealed the coach’s fate as there were rumors of his sack before the match day four tie at Onikan. United currently sit 12th on the log with five points off available 12.
Ikorodu United travel to Nnewi on Sunday to face ninth placed Ifeanyi Ubah.
