NPFL: Chibuzor laments painful defeat to Nasarawa

Ifeanyi Ubah Captain Chibuzor Okonkwo has revealed his pain following his side’s 4-2 hammering by Nasarawa United in the Match Day 22 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game played in Makurdi yesterday.

The former national Under-23 star who has enjoyed a regular run in the side was helpless as his side conceded four goals for the first time since the start of the second stanza of the league which puts a huge dent to their aspirations to qualify for a continental campaign next season.

Speaking after the encounter, Chibuzor said: ”It’ s so painful that we lost today’s game but the officiating was not all that good. What can we do? all we can do, is just have to go back and prepare for our home games.”

When asked of his assessment of the officiating so far, the captain commended the referees for their  performance so far.

”The referees have been doing so well so far but today, I most be fair, they were not fair to us.

We hope to return to winning ways staring with the Federations Cup on Wednesday.”

Coach Dobrev was disappointed with the result but believes his team can still make a top six finish at the end of the season.

“We made so many mistakes at the back and it cost us the match, however, am happy with our attacking today and we will build on that.’

‘Lets not forget that we have some new players in the team they need some time to settle down. Am sure they will get better and the results will get better too.’
