Swedish top flight club Djurgårdens IF will be the next destination for Kenyan international Michael Olunga as per the club’s Football Director Bosse Anderson’s statement on leading Swedish portal fotbadirekt.
Bosse confirmed the two parties have had talks and the club has the green light to hold further talks with the player who had a stellar season with Gor Mahia in 2015.
Olunga was named the 2015 Most Valuable Player in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and the club official stated that the player will be arriving in Sweden in the next few days with the only hold up being the processing of his visa.
“He will come here, it’s just not clear when. This is a player we have followed for long. We have eyed him for a long time and followed his development.
“He’s on his way here. Now we are simply trying to find a date that suits. We have talked to his club down there, and we’ve agreed. We have the green light by his club to talk to him and he’ll get the trip over here and meet us. Now we are working to resolve his visa details. He is a very exciting player
“We have a hope that he will be able to join at the end of this week. We have had contact with his club and we are agreed on the conditions of a possible future transition. The last piece of the puzzle is that the visa should be clear and it is that which has dragged on, hopefully we will finalize everything in the next few days,” he said.
Olunga was the second best scorer in the 2015 KPL season with 19 goals, three shy of top scorer Jesse Were who recently left for Zambia.
