French international Dimitri Payet has put paid to speculations about his club future having declared on Friday that he would be staying at West Ham beyond this summer.
The Frenchman who enjoyed an excellent first season in the Premier League and took his club form into Euro 2016 said he is not considering a summer exit at all and will definitely wear the Hammers’ shirt when the season commences next month.
Real Madrid have been tipped to make a move with Hammers co-owner David Gold admitting they would only consider bids in excess of £50m.
But Payet has confirmed he will be playing his football at the Olympic Stadium next term.
“I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered,” he said.
“But I love West Ham. We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium.
“I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”
His comments come after Gold vowed to try everything to keep Payet in east London.
Gold said: “We’ll fight tooth and nail to make sure Dimitri pulls on a claret and blue shirt next season.
“We want to improve our squad and Dimitri is an integral part of what we’re trying to do. But we also must be realistic.
“If Barcelona or Real Madrid made a bid and he wanted to move there, it would be difficult to keep him.”
