Dike urges Dream Team to improve

Former national U-17 coach Alphosus Dike has submitted that Dream Team VI would need better blending ahead of Rio Olympics billed for 5th to 26th August 2016.

He expressed shortly after the Samson Siasia tutored side piped Senegal by a lone goal to clinch one of the tickets.

He observed that the defence appears shaky when it matters most and even as the players appear to have fallen in love with aerial balls which opponents find relatively easy to snatch.

“The players need to bring the ball down and limit aerial balls because their opponents appear to be at advantage whenever they float balls leading to loss of possession. There is need for them to put the ball more on the ground,” he said.

The former Enyimba and Heartland coach however gave coaching crew a pat on the back for picking one of the tickets which he said remains the ultimate.

“The most important thing is that we have clinched one of the tickets to the Olympics and that is a good achievement the rest will be a question of blending among the players to achieve that standard that will make a difference at the stage,” he added.
