Police Arrest Player Over N22.5m Cocaine Saga

A former Colombian international Diego Osorio is in police net after a failed attempt to smuggle cocaine thought to be worth around €45,000 (N22.5m).

The SUN reports that Osorio was arrested at Jose Maria Cordova airport in Rionegro on Thursday after allegedly trying to smuggle the illicit drug.

It is understood that Osorio was heading home to Madrid when he was stopped by police.

The ex-player who spent the majority of his playing days at Medellin’s Atletico Nacional has been involved in drug scandals before this latest development.

Back in 2002 he was arrested in Miami on charges of cocaine possession and trafficking.

Osario who was capped 17-times for Colombia from 1991-1995 allegedly told Police officers that he had agreed to the cocaine smuggling mission in order to pay off outstanding debts.
