Troubled Sofa set for more suits

The 2009 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka have not been having it easy on and off the field with financial constraints biting at the club and the case for the club is bound to get even tougher.

Dennis Kadito, the agent of Fiston Abdul Razak is reported to be in the process of suing Sofapaka over allegedly not receiving his transfer cut following the player’s move from the Kenyan club to South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in 2015.

The Burundian sealed a move said to have cost Sundowns US$250,000 but the agent says he did not receive his cut of the deal and has moved on to sue.

Kadito says he has failed to have his case heard by the Kenyan sports dispute body and has taken his claim to court, where he is suing both Sofapaka and the Sports Disputes Tribunal.

“I seek this Court’s intervention to ensure justice is delivered and totally discourage such conduct by the sued parties in appreciation of the role of sports in Kenya and internationally. I believe in due process,” Kadito is quoted as saying by Kenyan media.

Sofapaka, bottom of the KPL log will not want more cases as it is already handling a number of suits from former players and coach.
