Kenyan international Ayub Timbe Masika netted his fourth goal of the current season for his team Lierse SK in the Belgian second tier on Friday night as his team claimed an important 2 – 1 win over Deinze.
After a barren first half, the hosts, Lierse opened the scoring through Slovenjian international Etien Velikonja from the penalty spot on the 77th minute. The lead, however, lasted just five minutes as Deinze leveled matters courtesy of Donjet Shkodra.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Ayub Timbe stole in to win a 50 – 50 chance and squared the pass to Velikonja who returned it in sumptuous fashion to the Kenyan international and Timbe slotted low past the advancing Tom Vendenberghe.
The goal, coming on the 92nd minute enabled Lierse to bag three points that saw the team consolidate tenth place on the log with 27 points while Deinze fluffed the chance to open a gap in 13th place.
Earlier in the week, another Kenyan international, Johanna Omollo, playing in the same league for Royal Antwerp, played for an hour as his team beat AS Eupen 4 – 3 to move second ahead of Eupen.
