Real Madrid right back Dani Carvajal has sneaked into the English champions Chelsea’s radar as a transfer target just days to the closure of the winter transfer window.

The defender has found playing time hard to come by under new manager Zinedine Zidane after enjoying a lot of time on the pitch with fellow Spaniard Rafa Benitez who was dismissed earlier in the month.

The defender just recently signed a five year deal with the Spanish giants and the club would want to hold on to him, given the transfer ban handed earlier by FIFA but having started just eight matches this season, a regular starting place could lure him away.

Spanish publication Fichajes claim the right-back is unhappy under Zidane who has preferred to play summer signing Danilo ahead of him and reports emerged earlier in the week that Guus Hiddink had sounded out the 24-year-old as a target to bolster his defensive line.

Should a deal materialize, the Spaniard will be lined up as the long term replacement for Branislav Ivanovic who has been under a lot of criticism after Chelsea’s poor start to the season.
