The Nigeria National Women’s U17 team, the Flamingos started their World Cup qualification quest on a bright note on Saturday as they romped to a 4-0 win over their Namibian counterparts at the Abuja National Stadium.
Captain of the team, Rasheedat Ajibade played a pivotal role in the win as hit a brace while the duo of Cynthia Aku and Peace Efih added one goal each to hand the Flamingos a big win in their second round, first leg clash in the qualification series for the 2016 FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup.
Skipper of the Flamingos, Ajibade who drew applause from the fans present with her deft touches scored the opening goal in the 13th minute of the encounter.
Cynthia Aku thereafter doubled the advantage for the Nigeria team twelve minutes to the end of the first half before Efih Peace added another goal to the tally by the stroke of half time with a wonderful effort from 32-meter.
Fans were already expecting an annihilation of the Namibians in the second half but that was not to be as the Flamingos could only score one more goal as Ajibade completed the good work she started in the first half.
With the 4-0 first leg advantage, the Flamingos are expected to pull through even as they go for he second leg encounter on 22nd January in Windhoek.
