Bidvest Wits new-boy Cuthbert Malajila is looking forward to the start of the latest chapter in his career when the season begins next week.
The Zimbabwean striker, who recently swapped Mamelodi Sundowns for the Students, says he has been fitting in well with all the familiar faces around him.
“I have played alongside some of the players before and I know (Elias) Pelembe, (Jabulani) Shongwe and (Buhle) Mkhwanazi,” the 30-year-old told the club website. “I am trying to get to know each and every single player by interacting with them on a daily basis.”
With less than a week to go before they kick-off their Absa Premiership campaign against Kaizer Chiefs in Johannesburg, Malajila reflects on a recently concluded camp in Stellenbosch.
He continued: “The camp was great, we played some friendlies and the team worked really hard. The most difficult part of the camp for me was getting up at 05h00 in the morning to be at the gym by 06h00. Going on the camp prepares our mind and body for the challenges of a new season.”
Looking ahead to the season opener on Tuesday, he added: “As a team, we are ready for the first match and excited to be playing at home – so far so good. We can’t wait for the games to come.”
