Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht: Ezekiel’s goal not enough

Anderlecht’s Nigerian striker Imoh Ezekiel came off the substitute’s bench to score his first Europa League goal for his side who lost 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane had opened the scoring for Tottenham slightly against the run of play. The England striker was played in by Cristen Eriksen will a clever through ball and the forward fires his shot home into the bottom corner of the goal.

Ezekiel who came on Youri Tielemans in the 71st minute made an instant impact restoring parity for Besnik Hasi two minutes later when he timely side footed home an excellent Steven Defour’s curling cross.

But his joy was short lived by Mousa Dembélé who cracked an unstoppable left-footed shot past Silvio Proto from outside the area to send Tottenham top in group J.

Nigeria international striker Imoh Ezekiel who joined from Qatari club Al-Arabi SC on a season loan deal has made three appearances in the competition.

The 21 year old now scored twice in 13 appearances. Tottenham visit FK Qarabag in their next Europa League clash at the end of the month while Anderlecht face Monaco in their next game.
