Iwobi wants Arsenal loan exit, dad reveals

According to the Metro, Alex Iwobi’s father Chuka has revealed that his son wants a loan move away from Arsenal to gain first team experience.

At 19 years old nephew of Nigeria’s football icon Austin Okocha, who is currently in Belgium with the Super Eagles for the friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon, signed a new long time deal with the gunners but feels going on loan will prepare him better for first team football at North London next season.

“A few clubs in the United Kingdon and abroad have approached Arsenal to take Alex on loan,” Chuka said.

“But Arsene Wenger wants him to be with the first team because he did very well in pre-season.

“Alex’s preferred option at this stage is to go on loan to gain first-team experience and come back to Arsenal later on to fight for a place.”

Iwobi who scored for the gunners against Lyon in the Emirate Cup during pre-season, is yet to feature for Arsenal in the premier league but was a solid performer at the Under-21’s where he scored nine times in his final nine matches last season.
