The draw for the CECAFA Women Championships has been conducted, marking the return of the tournament in 2016 after missing for close to three decades.
The 2016 edition was launched officially in Uganda, the host nation, on Monday 29 August with the tournament scheduled to kick off on Sunday 11 September and last until Tuesday 20 September.
The CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye confirmed there will be two groups with seven countries having confirmed participation.
Kenya has been drawn in Group A of the tournament with another key member of the group being arch rival Uganda. Other teams in the group are Burundi and Zanzibar while in Group B, there will be three teams; Ethiopia, Tanzania and Rwanda.
Kenya will play Uganda in their opening clash on September 11 then take on Burundi on Tuesday 13 September before completing their group stage matches with a clash against Zanzibar on Thursday 15 September.
Group A: Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Zanzibar
Group B: Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda
