Uganda coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic guided his team to the semi finals of the CECAFA Senior Challenge with a 2 – 0 win over Malawi on Monday 30 November to set up a date with the hosts Ethiopia.
Speaking after the match at the Addis Ababa Stadium the coach stated his satisfaction with his players’ output saying they played to the plan and lauded their growth in the tournament after the shock loss to Kenya in the opening match.
Farouk Miya scored an early goal before Ceaser Okhuti doubled the scores early in the second half and the coach says the goals settled their minds as they gun for the semi finals.
“It was our intention to go for early goals to destabilize our opponents. After the first goal they opened up and we got a second when it most mattered and from that point we just had to cool the game in preparation for the semifinals.
“I’m proud at the way my boys have reacted after a rude awakening from Kenya in our first match of the tournament. Today they restricted the opponents to only two chances on our goal,” he said.
