Kenya has been handed the rights to host two upcoming CECAFA tournaments – the 2016 editions of the CECAFA Kagame Cup and the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in the months of November and December.
The revelation was made earlier on Thursday 8 September by the CECAFA Secretary General Mr. Nicholas Musonye who also noted that the Kagame Cup will come in December, after the Senior Challenge in November.
The Kagame Cup competition was initially scheduled for Dar es Salaam in Tanzania with the Senior Challenge scheduled for Sudan but the two nations turn down the chance to host.
The last time Kenya hosted a CECAFA event was in 2013, at that time the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) headed by Sam Nyamweya and the event was not what the country would be proud of.
As he revealed the new hosts, Musonye said he hopes the organization this time round will not be as shambolic as it was then.
Kagame Cup involves regional club champions in the region while the Senior Challenge involves national teams.
Azam FC of Tanzania are the club champions while Uganda Cranes are the Senior Challenge champs.
