Mthatha Bucks continue to try and edge clear of the relegation zone, the NFD rookies holding AmaZulu to a 0-0 draw at the Mthatha Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The result sees Amathol’amnyama moving to 12 points, one above 16th placed Moroka Swallows and two behind African Warriors in 14th spot, with 12 round of action to go.
It was a tight and technical game, the home defence doing well to keep AmaZulu’s veteran on-form striker Siyabonga Nomvethe quiet.
There were a few half chances for Bucks’ own veteran, Moses Spandeel, but Usuthu goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro not overly extended.
The best chance of the game came 10 minutes from time, by Amathol’amnyama forward Siphelele Jonasi was unable to net after being one-on-one with Murambadoro.
The Durban side, who had come into the game on the back of three consecutive wins, ended the afternoon with 10 men after a late second yellow card for defender Mark van Heerden.
