Arsenal gets Danny Welbeck boost

Welbeck 2

Danny Welbeck moved a step closer to returning to first team action after he played for one hour for the Arsenal U21’s on Friday after nine months on the sidelines.

The 25-year old has been out for Arsenal since suffering an injury in April last year but is nearing a return to the first team after his 60-minute run-out against Brighton.

The striker’s return will be a big boost to Arsenal as they hope to win their first Premier League title since 2004 but manager Arsene Wenger says he must take ‘small steps’ before returning to first team action.

Arsenal currently sit fourth in the title run-in despite having spent much of the season in joint top with Leicester City but find themselves adrift of the Foxes with five points after failing to win on their last four games.
