Kenyan defender Curtis Osano helped his Bengaluru side to win the I – League title, the Indian second tier after his team beat Salgaocar 2 – 0 on Sunday 17 April.
The defender, born in Nakuru, featured for the entire match as Eugenson Lyngdoh opened the scoring on the eighth minute before Seminlen Doungel made the points safe for the hosts three minutes from time.
With 32 points from 15 matches, Bengaluru set an unassailable five point lead ahead of the second-placed Mohun Bagan, who drew on the weekend, and seven points clear of Sammy Omollo’s East Bengal with one match to spare.
Bengaluru has the chance to hit 35 points in the season as they take on Mohun Bagan in the last match of the domestic season on Saturday 23 April.
Still, Osano’s side has continental matches to think of; the team plays Laos side, Lao Toyota in their fifth match of Group H on Wednesday 27 April.
Bengaluru won their maiden crown in 2013-14 season and finished second last season (2014-15) behind Mohun Bagan.
