After being released by Liverpool, central defender Kolo Toure is close to reuniting with the Reds former manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers is signing him for his new club, Celtic in the Scotland top flight. Toure was one of the fan’s favourite players and at the age of 35, played better than many young defenders for the Reds this year.
The supporters wanted the club to renew his contract, and with an injury problem in pre-season, Liverpool chose to sign Ragnar Klavan instead of bringing back Toure as fourth choice.
If Toure passes a medical, he will be available as soon as Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against FC Astana.
The Ivory Coast legend made 26 appearances for Liverpool last season, has 118 international caps and also had the experience of being part of Arsenal’s Invincibles team.
“He is very close and he will stay with us,” said Ranieri of Chilwell.
