Ahead of his debut for the Super Eagles, Okechukwu Azubuike has spoken of his excitement at the prospect of finally making his full international bow.
Speaking exclusively to fcnaija, the 18-year old spoke of his excitement at being invited, and added that he will try to ‘keep the jersey’, by remaining relevant to the team.
“First I feel excited for the call up and I have to keep my fingers crossed and if I start the game, I will do my possible best to keep the jersey,” he said.
The Yeni Matalyaspor of Turkey midfielder is not new to the Super Eagles as he has trained with the team on several occasions, but is yet to make his senior international bow, even though he is presently the captain of the national Under-23 side.
Speaking further, he said it will be a good feeling for him to finally play a competitive game for the Super Eagles, and says he is prepared for the challenge.
“I think it is going to be a good one for (to start the game) and I am prepared right now and I am going to do my best,” he posited.
He however added that it is an important game and every one of them must put in their best to win the game.
“It’s an important game and the players know that and we have to put one hundred percent to make sure we win the game,” he added.
The game starts at 5pm local time at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium
