Super Eagles and Lobi Stars right-back Solomon Kwambe lasted just 18 minutes on his return to face former team Sunshine Stars of Akure in the week 22 of the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL).
Kwambe who has been in fantastic form this season was replaced by Moses Bunde in the first half as he limped off after picking up a knock during the encounter.
However, it was the home side that dominated possession as they searched for the opener. Dele Olorundare forced Lobi Stars goalkeeper Okiemute Odah into a double save before seeing another long range effort saved in a first half that ended goalless.
The visitors raced out of the blocks quicker in the second half and nearly took the early as Lobi Captain Tony Agbaji saw his header come off the foot of the crossbar.
Sunshine Stars Ayo Saka volleyed a shot from 25 yards wide, before striker Dele Olorundare made way for Samad Kadiri. Lobi goalkeeper Okiemute Odah was booked for time wasting but it was joy for the home fans as they were awarded a penalty after Kadiri was fouled inside the penalty box.
Okiki Afolabi stepped up and expertly converted the spot kick and that proved to be the match-winner.
