The Ghanian league champions’ chief executive officer Kudjoe Fianoo is adamant that they will get through the 2016 Caf Champions League preliminary round second leg against Algerian club MO Bejaia.
Ashanti Gold won the first leg 1-0 at home on Sunday, so there’s been concern about their trip to North Africa.
“I’m not disappointed with the scoreline,” Fianoo told the media.
“I’m confident that we will shock them in Algeria in the return leg in two weeks’ time in order to book our ticket to the next stage of the competition.
“I’m saying that because I know what my players can do. So Bejaia should be wary of what we are bringing on board in the second leg.”
Sunday’s game took place at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in Ghana with Tijani Joshua scoring the decisive goal, and the second leg promises to be another cagey affair.
“They [Bejaia] came into the game and had a well rehearsed strategy which worked for them,” Fianoo added.
“We created decent chances and we should have scored more goals but at the end, we had only one.”
