Ghana continued their 100% run in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with a comfortable 3-1 win over Mozambique in Accra this evening.
The Black Stars who were without Captain Asamoah Gyan and Swansea forward Andre Ayew due to injury had no problems as Anderlecht winger Frank Acheampong opened the scoring in the fourth minute.
But Acheampong’s evening was cut short as he picked up a knock towards the end of the half and made way for Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp at the interval.
However, Avram Grants men increased the lead as John Boye scrambled home the second while Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew made it three goals with a simple lob past the goalkeeper.
The visitors found the net when Apson Manjate powered home a header in the 67th minute but it was all they got as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners to continue their excellent run in the qualifiers.
Ghana now tops Group H with nine points ahead of their return leg away to Mozambique in Maputo next week.
